A4 sticker sheet templates: 21-up and 24-up
The exact sizes of 21-up and 24-up A4 sticker sheets (Avery L7160 and L7159), how to use the templates, and how to lay out your own sheet in Canva.

“21-up” and “24-up” are the two most common layouts for A4 sheets of rectangular stickers and labels. 21-up is Avery L7160: 21 labels of 63.5 × 38.1 mm, 3 across and 7 down. 24-up is Avery L7159: 24 labels of 63.5 × 33.9 mm, 3 across and 8 down. Many unbranded sticker sheets use the same layouts, so the same templates fit them.
What are the exact sizes?
| Layout | Avery code | Grid | Sticker size |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21-up | L7160 (J8160 for inkjets) | 3 × 7 | 63.5 × 38.1 mm |
| 24-up | L7159 (J8159 for inkjets) | 3 × 8 | 63.5 × 33.9 mm |
On L7160, the first sticker starts 15.15 mm from the top and 7.21 mm from the left, with 2.54 mm between columns and no gap between rows. Avery’s L7159 template gives its exact margins. Unbranded sheets sometimes differ by a millimetre or so, so measure yours with a ruler before printing a batch.
How do you use a template?
- Download the template for your sheet. The free label templates include L7160, and Avery’s own site has templates for both codes.
- Put your design in each box, keeping text and important details 2 mm inside the edge.
- Print one copy on plain paper at 100% scale (not “Fit to page”), with borderless printing off.
- Hold it against a sticker sheet up to the light. If it lines up, print on the real sheets.
If the test print is shifted or slightly too small, see why your prints don’t line up.
How do you make your own in Canva?
- Create a custom design of 210 × 297 mm.
- Turn on rulers and guides in the File menu, and add guides at the margins and sticker edges given above.
- Draw one rectangle at the sticker size, put your design in it, then copy it into each position.
- Download it as PDF Print and print at 100%.
What if your stickers aren’t rectangles?
Then you don’t need a 21-up or 24-up grid. Those layouts are for sheets that come pre-cut into rectangles. If you print on plain sticker paper and cut the shapes yourself, you can fit more stickers by placing them by their shape:
- Bleed: extend the background 1–2 mm past each cut line, so a cut that lands slightly off doesn’t leave a white edge.
- Gap: leave about 3 mm between stickers if you cut with scissors or a craft knife, less with a cutting machine.
- Margin: keep everything at least 5 mm from the edge of the page, as most printers can’t print right to the edge.
MagLab does this in one click: drop in your designs, say how many of each, and it fills the sheet, packing shaped stickers by their outlines rather than their boxes. It also has the L7160 sheet built in, for rectangular stickers and labels.
Can you cut a full 21-up sheet with a Cricut?
Not in one go. The grid is about 196 mm wide, wider than Cricut’s Print Then Cut limit on A4 (about 183 mm). Pre-cut sheets don’t need cutting anyway. To cut your own shapes with a Cricut, see Cricut Print Then Cut with your own image.
Can you use an A4 template on US Letter paper?
No. US Letter is 216 × 279 mm, wider and shorter than A4’s 210 × 297 mm, so the bottom rows won’t land on the stickers. Use a template made for the sheet you have.
What resolution should the artwork be?
300 pixels per inch at the printed size. A 63.5 × 38.1 mm sticker needs about 750 × 450 pixels. A smaller image prints soft, and enlarging it won’t bring back detail.
